The Enlightenment of Rubber Ducky

The Rubber Ducky Buddha of Joliet.
The Rubber Ducky Buddha of Joliet.

Rubber Ducky’s enlightenment on November 3, 2017 is the first of many such enlightenments that will take place all over the world from now until December 8, the secular Bodhi Day. These newly minted Buddhas are here to prepare us for this coming Christmas, when the Lunar Bodhi Day (the 8th Day of the 12th Lunar Month of 2017) coincides with Christmas.

Rubber Ducky is greeting the Morning Star on an empty cup. What our human senses pick up, what our perceptions compute of that sensory data, what our mammalian feelings cast as ambiguous signals, and the actions our thoughts like puffs of smoke compel us to do … they fill the cup. And no matter how crystal-clear reality is, it’s computed through the tightly-coupled associations of our neurons, the contents of the cup, optimized for life in the Earth’s wild. What we see are just photons, shadows of reality. We must empty our cup of all these feelings, beliefs, and thoughts – which are in reality all that we cling to (Dukkha) – before we can see the reality of the Universe not through our primate systems.

Now, I may have translated incorrectly. It’s very difficult to translate “mack mack mack mack mack …” And although enlightened, Rubber Ducky is still a bit of a dick. But remember, Buddha only promised a path to end your suffering, Dukkha, so that you are no longer obssessed with your suffering.
